Teodora Sena Ducariu was born in June 1986 in Brasov, Romania and received her first piano lessons, from her mother. At the age of 8, she heard the famous flutist James Galway and decided to play the flute as well.
A few years later at the age of 14, she performed her first flute recital. Teodora began her flute studies in Brasov at the College of Music and continued studying at the National University of Music in Bucharest, Romania. In the same year, she followed another passion and enrolled at the Academy of Economics in Bucharest, the Faculty of Business Administration in English. She graduated from both universities in 2008.
Between 2013 and 2017, she studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Lucerne, Switzerland. During her studies, Teodora received scholarships from the Hirschmann Foundation, the C. und A. Kupper Foundation and Konservatorium Dreillinden.
She kept following her passion for the music management by working since 2017 in the management team of Festival Strings Lucerne. Since July 2019, she is also part of the La Cetra Barockorchester & Vokalensemble in Basel management team.
Teodora currently continues to develop her musical career, playing solo and chamber music concerts, as part of a duo with either piano, harp or guitar and as a trio with cello and piano.
Since May 2017, Teodora dedicates herself as well to teaching and building educational music projects for both children and adult. She offers private lessons for both piano and flute, in Zürich and Zug and organizes several concerts during the year for her students.
She has had the privilege to benefit from the guidance of several famous flutists, such as Sir James Galway, Benoît Fromanger, Mario Caroli, Pirmin Grehl, Pierre Yves-Artaud, Sophie Cherrier, Janos Balint, Patricia Morris, Christina Fassbender and Juliet Hurel.
Since her early teens, she has performed as a soloist with orchestra. She has also performed as a flutist and piccolo player in the Romanian Youth Orchestra, the National Radio Orchestra, the George Enescu Philharmonic and the Orchestra of the Romanian Opera and Youth Orchestra of Central Switzerland.
An important step in her career was made in February 2012 when she had the chance to gain the position of the Assistant to the Artistic Director of the Sergiu Celibidache Festival in Romania, under the presidency of Serge Ioan Celebidachi. This position gave her the opportunity to develop her artistic and event management skills and the chance to work with artists of international music environment.
